Lead and direct the overall operation of the Hospice agency in accordance with patient’s needs, government regulations and company policies so as to maintain excellence care for the patients while achieving the agencies’ business objectives.
Must possess a minimum of a RN with BSN preferred or minimum of Bachelor of Social Work with Master’s preferred
Must have a least five (5) years experience with a minimum of two (2) years in an administrative/supervisory capacity and one (2) year in hospice.
Must be professionally licensed in the state of practice
Must have and maintain a current drivers license in the state and maintain automobile liability insurance.
Must be able to relate positively and favorably to the patients, families and outside agencies and to work cooperatively with other Employees.
Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance, as required.
Must meet all local health regulations and pass a post-employment exam(s), if required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
A. Planning Function:
Work with the agency Patient Care Coordinator(s), Administrative staff and any applicable Corporate staff in planning all aspects of agency operations, including setting priorities and job assignments.
Monitor each department activities, communicate policies, evaluate performance, provide feedback, and assist, coach and take corrective action as needed.
B. Continuous Quality Improvement:
Continuously monitor the delivery of nursing care, support services, Employee morale to ensure patient needs are being addressed in a proactive manner.
Coordinate quarterly Performance improvement and Clinical Record Utilization Review Committee meetings to ensure service delivery is continuously enhanced.
Reports to Advisory Board and coordinates activities according to policy and ensure recommendations are incorporated into policies and procedures and practice guidelines.
Perform periodic audits of the agency’s medical records, personnel files, committee reports, and inservice/staff meeting manuals to assure agency performance meets or exceeds state/federal regulations governing hospice care.
C. Teamwork Function:
Ensure staff and other support resources are appropriately utilized and a high level of interdepartmental teamwork is maintained.
D. Environmental Function:
Ensure the building and grounds are properly maintained and that equipment and work areas are clean, safe and orderly and any hazardous conditions are addressed.
Ensure universal precautions and infection control, fire, safety and sanitation practices and procedures are followed.
E. Regulatory Compliance Function:
Coordinate annual agency evaluation and statistical report to the board.
Assists in interpreting federal and state governmental regulations for all personnel and for agency policy and procedures.
Maintain a working knowledge and ensure compliance with all governmental regulations, additionally, adheres to the Code of Ethics policy and ensure Employees are educated on Company expectations and procedures for reporting fraud and abuse.
F. Employee Relations Function:
Monitor Employee relations practices to ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies and to ensure practices that maintain high morale and staff retention to include effective communication, prompt problem resolution, positive supervisory practices and maintaining a positive work environment.
Ensure current and future staffing through development of recruiting sources; through appropriate selection, orientation, and training and continuous staff education.
G. Budgetary Function:
Manage agency and business practices to include labor costs, payables and receivables.
Monitor business activities to ensure procedures and standards are followed, appropriate handling of funds and that sound credible business practices are followed at all times.
Track denials/appeals and assist with training.
Responsible for annual budget with expectation that agency will meet or exceed budgetary goals.
H. Marketing Function:
In coordination and collaboration with Marketing staff, will develop and implement a marketing strategy for the agency that reflects service opportunities, competition, potential market area changes and which maximize census and payor mix.
I. Public Relations Function:
Must possess the ability to collaborate with both internal and external customers in a positive manner.
Develop positive relationships on behalf of the company with government regulators, patients, families, area Health Care Community and the Community at large.
J. Educational Function:
Supervise, conduct and participate in agency education activities and staff meetings.
Maintain professional competence through participation in continuing education programs, seminars and training programs.
K. Patient Rights Function:
Understand, comply with and promote rules regarding patient’s rights.
